HARRIET ZABUSKY-ZAND

My art education began as a child accompanying my father on weekly sketching trips around beautiful 'colonial' Savannah and neighboring fishing villages.

Seeking new vehicles for personal expression, I learned to weave, and moved to England and set up a studio. During my stay abroad, I exhibited my work and executed commissions for tapestries and rugs. I was flooded by images which took a long time to execute by weaving, and began to paint with water colors. Upon returning to the United States I decided to pursue an education in painting.

I received a Diploma in Fine Arts from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston and a Master of Fine Arts degree from Massachusetts College of Art. Abstract Expressionism was a major influence on the work I produced during this time. The sense of infinite space, luminous sensuous color, and allusions to landscape allowed for the expression of my Buddhist beliefs. “Color is a thread that runs through all of my work.”

My art has been exhibited widely in the United States and in England. I’m honored that my work is included in the Gillette Corporation collection, the Sonesta Sonnabend collection, the Westin Hotel, Accenture, Mohegan Sun Casino, Marriott Hotels, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel in New York, and many other corporate and private collections in the United States and England.

We currently reside in Savannah, GA.
