Envisioned landscapes
These Envisioned Landscapes are metaphors for states of mind and states of being. Some are calm and uplifting; some are dark and turbulent. They are based on my faith and practice of Nichiren Buddhism. I am expressing the concept of the 10 worlds, or 10 conditions of life, from hell to enlightenment, that we can experience dynamically from one moment to the next.
J.M.W. Turner’s envisioned atmospheric landscapes and seascapes have inspired and influenced my paintings. Paintings can express concepts and beliefs, but ultimately, they are works of art. The work can be enjoyed for its sensual and painterly qualities, light and color and the feelings that they evoke.
