"Colorful, large paintings capturing the magic of nature and trees."

trees

Joyce Kilmer wrote, “I think that I shall never see, A poem as lovely as a tree.”  For me, trees embody strength, growth, longevity, and they reflect the rhythm of the seasons.  It is these qualities and the expression of my faith in Nichiren Buddhism that enliven these paintings.

The Buddhist ideas expressed include Nichiren’s optimism and encouragement even in the face of the desolation of being exiled in winter, the jubilation of greeting a new year, and knowing that when winter comes, spring cannot be far behind.  Overcoming the problems and obstacles you face represented by winter enables you to enjoy the pleasures of spring.  The summer and tropical paintings can be enjoyed for the places they depict and their exuberant energy and color.
